BOOK REVIEW: You Know You Want It by Carla Robinson

I feel a bit like a twat for reblogging someone else’s review of my book, but it’s just such a wonderful review and I’m just so grateful to Ariel, my mentor, my editor, and, above all, my friend ❤

Writing Radiation

I’ve read 5 books between Slaughterhouse-Five & You
Know You Want It
, all of which still need reviewing.

However, as the author, Carla Robinson (blogging under “Things Carla Loves”), is a dear friend, who isn’t feeling her (insanely intelligent, empathetic, funny, vivacious) self lately, I felt this deserved a bump up the schedule.

Also, she did something amazing as an indie author that I feel merits discussion.  BUT FIRST –

DISCLAIMERS:

  • Carla is one of the first people I connected
with on WordPress. We’ve never had the
pleasure of meeting in person (yet!),
but I consider her a dear friend.
  • I received an Advanced Reader Copy (ARC) of this
book & asked to give feedback. I got
about a chapter in before life got in the way.
While Carla says that feedback was helpful, I will kick myself for not
giving it my all – possibly…

Don’t feel a tw– for reposting a review! I think it’s good for your book’s visibility & it shows transparency.

You’re still one of the sweetest (but one of the baddest b—-hes) people on the Internet. ❤

Awww thank you so much!!!! I love your review sooo much! And I’m so glad you didn’t like Caitlin in the beginning! I wanted her to be not likable to everyone, so I deliberately arched up her up in the beginning, because if you can not like someone, but feel devastated when something so serious like this happens to them, I think I’ve done a good job. I mean, not every rape victim is likable – or perfect.

I’m so glad you liked the review! I was worried it was too long.

I think you did a fantastic job with Caitlin & her development. The character growth was unmistakable.

I can’t believe I didn’t mention the theme of the “perfect victim” in my review!

Also, I totally forgot to repost to Goodreads. I’d better do that now.

NOT AT ALL! I loved it! I showed it immediately to Scott! I LOVED IT! OMG — I HAVE AMAZING, TOP-SECRET, ABSOLUTELY CONFIDENTIAL NEWS! AS I’m responding to comments, and I still have that memory problem, there’s a chance you’ll need to follow me up, but I’ll try and remember! And I remembered to send you the notes!!!! … Eventually.

I don’t mind!! I loved everything you wrote!! It was just the best! Thank you for being the best Ariel ❤

Ooo! I’m super excited for your awesome confidential news! When I get up to our email conversation, I’ll try to remember to remind you.

Good Lord, what a goldfish I’ve become! 🐠 (Not a goldfish, but super cute. Fiiiisshhhieeee!)

Yay! My Amazon review went through. They rejected the first one because I linked to my WordPress review, so I removed the formatting & stuck it in. Looks like that’s OK with them. Just nothing that diverts people from buying, y’know, books ‘n car parts ‘n clothes ‘n friends ‘n whatever Amazon sells (AKA everything).

I’m pretty proud of the fact that I finally looked at Goodreads’s formatting tips & learned how to insert a link. LOL

I’m glad that I could help spread the word, limited though my reach may be. 😊
